Busy Busy Busy

It has been awhile since my last post, I have to admit it has been pretty hectic for me during September.
I have been involved in a few fun events and activities with friends and family.

As a young professional you always want to make sure that you are getting out there, networking when possible but also taking time for yourself. Or doing both at the same time. The more fun events that you are involved in that you actually enjoy the more likely you are to meet people who you will connect with and add to your network and resources.

On the 15th I was one the judges panel for the Krups Kup of Excellence. We were chauffeured around Halifax to 5 different coffee houses in search of the best Espresso. NEVER judge an Espresso competition unless you can handle your caffeine. 5 Espressos in 3 hours was WAY to much for me.  That being said my favourite espresso was Local Joes on Oxford St in the North End. It had a smooth rich flavour and I loved the shop. I can't wait to go back to try some of their French pastries!  The overall winner of the contest was Java Blend on North Street. Java Blend actually roasts its own beans! They also supply a number of coffee shops in Halifax with coffee beans including Local Jo's.  Both places are great  and each has their own unique atmosphere. I hope that you check them out the next time you are in the mood for a great cup of Joe.. At the end of the day Krups sent us each home with an Espresso maker. I know that I will be making many a Cafe Mocha once the snow starts to fall!

My work has been gearing up as well. The Fall issue of Occasions will be in store any day now and the winter issue production is already in full swing. I have been managing the Molson Cooler Contest too! 10 Lucky Maritimers now have remote control coolers!  I went on a girls night, watched a Demolition derby and had a minor procedure which leaves me with 4 stitches in my lower back. So ya I have been Busy Busy Busy.

No matter how busy you get you should always make time for your meals. If you are eating healthy and regularly than you will have the stamina to keep up with a busy and hectic lifestyle. There are lots of great healthy meal ideas that are quick and easy. Stir fry is a fabulous example. And if you make enough you have your lunch for the following day already taken care of! Nothing beats a delicious hot lunch on a busy day.
